What are Kai* and the whole family hoping to achieve together?
We’re working on his communication and building routines. Having him use his voice to express his wants and needs more than devices is big. Overall, just to do what we can to help him reach his full potential in life and achieve anything he sets his mind to. We’ve been able to discover some of these goals with our care team and we know what to focus on during our sessions.
How does Easterseals Hawaii support you beyond standard treatment?
The whole team is dedicated and supportive. We see them in our home and at the center, and they’ve helped his communication grow big time. They keep a strong connection to all of us and we always feel in the loop. It was hard at first getting started – Kai needed time to warm up to his practitioners – but we’re now a great team all working together to strengthen his development.
What do you see for the rest of Kai’s time with Easterseals Hawaii?
Continuing to reach goals, but beyond that, finding new ones to set and achieve. We can do anything! We’re so grateful for the team but also the entire journey itself. It isn’t easy for parents to navigate this new experience, but now that we’re here and seeing progress, we look forward to working with the team for years to come.
