Autism Services
Let’s learn more about:
ABA
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a behavioral treatment for autism.
ABA can help in many ways, including:
- Enhancing communication skills
- Facilitating social skills
- Learning skills for independence
- Reducing challenging behaviors
ABA focuses on a tailored treatment plan for your loved one, specifically for behaviors that are significant to you/them.
At Easterseals Hawaii, an RBT® (Registered Behavior Technician) provides this 2-Tier model of ABA ,and works directly with your loved one under the supervision and guidance of a BCBA® (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). Services are offered in-home, telehealth, and in-clinic.
Another exciting ABA model is Caregiver-Led, which puts the caregivers at the forefront of their loved one’s treatment. Parents are taught ABA strategies to use throughout the day to improve skills and reduce challenging or dangerous behaviors. This type of ABA allows families to have more flexibility to enjoy everyday activities.

NEW! Diagnostic Evaluations
Do you have concerns about your loved one meeting developmental milestones?
Easterseals Hawaii is now offering Diagnostic Evaluations (DEs). We are here for you every step of the way, from diagnosis to making recommendations for treatment.
- Your appointment will determine if your loved one meets the diagnostic criteria for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or intellectual/
developmental disability (I/DD). - Families can schedule a DE by reaching out to their medical provider or to Easterseals Hawaii directly at [email protected].
- We will guide you through the process and give you next steps after your DE, regardless of the outcome.
Groups
Group offerings available
Parent groups are dynamic, supportive communities where caregivers learn effective strategies to help their children thrive. These groups are facilitated by a BCBA® and provide invaluable resources, practical tools, and hands-on guidance from experienced professionals. Parents can share experiences, celebrate successes, and tackle challenges together, fostering a collaborative environment that empowers them to make meaningful changes in their child’s development and behavior.
Social Skills Groups are engaging, interactive sessions where clients learn essential social behaviors through fun and structured activities. These groups provide a safe and supportive environment to practice communication, cooperation, and friendship-building skills with peers, guided by experienced ABA professionals. Participants gain confidence, improve their social interactions, and make lasting connections by participating.
